| | | Memberships for 2023 are now due |
| Our Chairwoman, Una Barrett says: "The Executive sends season’s greetings to you, our members, and your family. We thank you all for your help and support throughout the year - we very much appreciate all the commitment given both on and off the field which makes St Vincent’s ‘Your Club’. This year saw a welcome return to play after the difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; The return to full training and playing schedule highlighted the strength in our community. Your Club is absolutely reliant on all members paying their subscriptions. Almost the entire amount raised through membership fees is used to pay affiliation and registration fees and the cost of the GAA insurance and players’ benefit scheme. Players will not be registered or insured until payment has been made. Payment should be made by 31st January 2023 for the 2023 season. The membership fee rates for 2023 are online with Club Zap. Payment can be made online at https://vins.ie/membership. Students must upload their current student id to avail of student rates. Please contact Michelle at 01-8335722 or office@stvincentsgaa.ie should you have any queries. Again, we thank you for your support during 2022. We wish you and your family all the best for Christmas and look forward to 2023." If you'd like to download a copy of this letter, you can get it here. |
| | Juvenile Fundraiser: Wowsers! | |
| Event organisers extraordinaires, Risteárd Brennan and John McConnell sent me this information: "The final figure of the funds raised from our recent fundraiser in aid of Saint Vincent de Paul, Marino Conference (SVP) and our Juvenile Section is in. After minimal costs, the net figure totalled €46,721. Due to certain donations specially requested for one or other of the two beneficiaries, the split is as follows: - €19,000 to SVP - €27,791 to our Juvenile Section. Amounts have been validated by our Club Treasurer and funds have been sent to SVP. Juvenile Section equipment will be ordered in the coming weeks. Thanks again to all those who contributed to and/or supported this fundraiser in many various ways." On behalf of Risteárd and John, our heartfelt thanks. On behalf of the club, our heartfelt thanks right back at you, Risteárd and John. |
| | The very last champo watch of the year | |
| | | |
| My last report for Championship matches this year is tinged, nay slathered in sadness. A tough day at the office last Saturday saw our Senior Camogie team travel to Birr for the All-Ireland semi-final. A massive shift was put in, but unfortunately, they were beaten by the slimmest of margins. Final score 1-10 to 1-11. The game had it all - from Sarsfields getting a dream start, to us getting back into it with a goal, to getting ahead followed by the lead negated by a penalty. I can't do it justice. There's a good write-up over at WeAreDublin. For some good photos, check out the ones taken by club photographer, Gràinne McKinney over on Facebook. Nothing to be ashamed of here - Sarsfields were last year's winners, 2020's runners-up and 2019's champions; Their opponents for the last two years were Oulart the Ballagh which we defeated in the quarter-final this year. The Camogie team have been outstanding all year - and no doubt it is gut-wrenching to lose by such a small margin. We won Dublin. We won Leinster. The whole club remain proud of your endeavours; this was obvious by the massive crowd that travelled. Well done to the team and management. |
| | A new offering in the Club Gym | |
| | | |
| I'm delighted to be telling you about this one. Club member, Stephen Keane, along with his business partner are starting a new business, offering general fitness classes for all levels out of the club Gym. They were part of the team who worked closely with the club on the Long-Term Athletic Development plan and also senior and underage teams. They are excited to expand the service to help you achieve your fitness goals. Unsure if it’s for you? The first class you book will be free, so don’t hesitate to try it out. To book, download the ‘Wunderbook’ app on your phone and find ‘APM’ on the list. If you'd like to contact APM, head over to their website for contact details. |
| | Volunteers night - coming soon | |
|
| |
|
---|
| |
| | Usually, around Christmas, the club holds a “volunteers night” in the club bar to thank all mentors and volunteers for their colossal effort throughout the year. With the Camogie season running so long, and the number of days until Christmas so short, we've decided to push this to early January. I'll be in touch as soon as the date is sorted. |

| | | I'm going to call this newsletter the last of the year. I think so at least. If something comes up, I'll get it out there. I dunno if it is a very congested GAA calendar, or just the Camógs going so far, but looking back, the season feels like it's been a long one! We started "Champo Watch" in July, and technically, it's only ending this week. Congratulations to our teams who had success; no matter what the age group, no matter what the trophy. These are days to remember. Commiserations to those who missed out - that's sport, and you lose more than you win. You'll still have great memories and continue to wear the shirt with pride. We lost some dear friends and family members throughout the year, but I like to think they're looking down feeling proud of their club and the volunteers that make it tick.
Thanks to everyone who read, commented, and pointed out my mistakes. Thanks to every volunteer who gives their time to the club. Each and every minute of your time matters. It moves us forward and shares the load. Volunteerism is the backbone, the lifeblood, and the essence of GAA. Well done to you all. I wish all of our members, supporters, parents/guardians and their families the happiest of Christmases and the best wishes for the new year. Nollaig shona Dhaoibh go leir. Naomh Uinsionn Abú! |
