Club Notes, 14th April 2021

Countdown to return.

OK folks. We're building up to a return to play for Juveniles at least.  We'll cover what we know in this week's notes.

As always, keep an eye on social channels (Instagram, Twitter and Facebook)
if you want something included in the club notes, all you have to do is drop me a mail at pro@stvincentsgaa.ie.

Return to Play: Current state of play

Return to play is scheduled for 26th April for Juvenile teams only. We expect an update about adult teams in due course, but for now it is just juveniles.
Remember that we keep a dedicated page on the club website with any Covid-19 updates.  This is here.
We haven't been given an official set of instructions from the GAA, but we fully expect updated guidelines prior to the 26th.  We'll publish them on the above page, and if necessary, send out a specific update should guidelines change.  For now, I recommend that we assume all guidelines will be like last year. So, pop on over to the aforementioned page, and familiarise yourself with the information there.

The return to play questionnaire will still be necessary and in place. This has morphed into a more comprehensive system called "Foireann".  Foireann is supplied and operated by the GAA and will deliver much more features than the return to play portal. Foireann replaces the previous system (known as "ServaSport"), which was used by the GAA to manage registered players.
In the past, most people were blissfully unaware of servasport; as it was like a management tool between clubs and the GAA. Foireann is designed to replace serva sport, but also be a single point of contact for all GAA users.
Why am I telling you this? Well, it will continue to be the place for filling out Return to play covid forms, and you may need to re-register.  Our club registrar has been busy adding people to foireann for the purposes of registration, so your child may already be in the system.

We recommend all parents and mentors log into the foireann system at foireann.ie.  Your return to play credentials should work, but some wiping of data has occurred (mainly, last years return to play forms have been deleted as they are no longer required, and this is good data policy).
If you cannot log in you can try the "forgot my password" capability, and if all else fails, you can re-register.

Foireann now also allows you to define your family, which will make access to your return to play forms quicker and easier.

Our recommendation for now? Go visit foireann.ie, log in, take a look around.

Please note: We are not offering our membership purchases through Foireann. If you wish to renew your membership you should do so though the club facility (here)

Important Safety Notice - PNU1

Remedial work to replace the ball-stop nets on PNU1 have not happened yet, so in the mean time we ask you to remain off PNU1. We have requested an inspection of the remaining 3 poles in case they could suffer a similar fate. We all know the club is closed, and nobody should be on PNU1, but this is a matter of serious safety.

Mini Leagues Will Return May 1

I'm delighed to be able to say that Mini Leagues is scheduled to return on May 1.  Mini leagues runs from 10:30am to 12:00.  Mini leagues is for children aged 5-7, and centres on making it fun for all. If you'd like to enroll your child, simply show up.  This date is of course contingent on any goverment guidelines on Covid-19, so please keep an eye on these notes for any updates.

Lotto

Lotto draw, 12 April 2021.  Jackpot was €1,450.  Numbers drawn were:
8, 2, 18, 11
There was no jackpot winner.  Weekly winner was Helen Mullins.  Next week's jackpot wil be €1,600.

It's Membership Renewal Time

I know we've mentioned about subscriptions being due, but with a potential return to play, players and parents are asked to renew their subscriptions. This becomes important because all players must be registered with each relevant body, for which the club has to pay registration fees/contribution to the injury fund and games fees.  You can renew your membership at this link.
Thank you to all who have renewed to date.

NUIG and Trinity Study on the effect of Restrictions on Teenagers

NUIG and Trinity have started a study called "ADAPT" which is a study on "how Adolescents Deal with and Adjust to Pandemic resTrictions" (Their capitalisation, not mine!).  They have asked us to encourage adolescents take part.
Full details are over on the dedicated website. They would like to hear from boys and girls in the 12-18 age bracket, and it will take part of a couple of surveys, a number of months apart.  Parental consent is of course necessary.  Parents: There's dedicated information for you on the site too.  This looks like a useful study, and we're well poised to help.  Let's do it folks.
