The senior footballers supporters draw continues, and we've a very quiet weekend ahead.  Don't worry - The championships will start soon and I'll have the head bored off yeh with lots of fixtures and results.

Dublin Ladies win U16 All-Ireland Final!

From the "what-just-happened" department: The Dublin U16 Ladies football team won the U16 A All-Ireland final this evening in Cahir.
Vincents was represented by Tessa Lambe on the pitch, and a host of our players on the sideline who travelled down for the occasion.
If the twitter stream is anything to go by, it was a nail biter.  The sides couldn't be separated at full time and extra time was added. Dublin worked hard in extra time, and despite conceeding a penalty during the 2nd period, still came out victorious with a final score of 4-12 to 3-09

Well done Tessa, All Ireland Champion, and many thanks to those who travelled to lend their support.

Let's face it - The club allocation will be small, and there's a fair few names in the hat already.  Why not give yourself another chance of getting not one, but 2 stand tickets, all while supporting the senior hurlers.  The Senior Hurlers are raffling 2 Stand tickets.  Entry is €20.  You can enter here.

Summer Hurling Comes to a Close

It feels like I just was introducing the summer hurling, but this year's programme has come to an end. Well done to Brid Power, Dayo Allen, Paddy Doyle, Toni Langan and everyone else who had a hand in making it a success. I had a thoroughly enjoyable evening this evening, watching the young lads and lassies aiming to win €5 in last crossbar challenge of the summer - which was ably won by 4 people.  The players we helped this evening by Senior Hurling Captain Alan Moore, senior hurler Oisin Lanigan and Senior Camogie player Muireann Kelliher, who gave out prizes of Sliotars for those who made every session, and socks to those players who's contribution stood out.  Well done to all.
The summer hurlers head to Tyrone to Dungannon Eoghan Ruadh for their final trip this weekend.

Lost and Found

Tell me.  Are you one of those parents who think "every time she comes back from that club, something else is missing" ? Do you find yourself saying to your child "if it wasnt' screwed on, you'd forget your own head"? Maybe you've muttered under your breath "this is the third water bottle I've bought in two months". Well, maybe we can save you another trip to decathlon.
Did you know we keep all items found for up to when we get fed up and they take up too much room a few weeks prior to disposing or donating items. It always suprises me when I look at the lost and found items. They're regularly high-quality, branded, sometimes even initialled, and often don't look like they've been worn too many times.
Well, I've been asked to remind everyone that the current batch is getting close to their bye-bye date; we encourage any parents/guardians who have been missing any piece to swing by the office and take a look.

Inter-county roundup

Our inter-county hopes now turn to Dublin Camogie.  Dublin face Kilkenny in whats bound to be their toughest encounter this season yet. The All-Ireland quarter final will be played in Semple stadium, this Saturday, 16th July with thrown in at 5:30pm.  For those travelling, the game is preceeded by Waterford v Limerick at 3:15pm. Tickets are on sale now at this link.
We wish Muireann Kelliher and Aisling Maher and the rest of the team all the best in the big game.

Weekend Roundup

Not a lot of games this weekend. Thursday sees our Junior B footballers play away to Skerries, and Saturday has just one fixture down : The U14 B lads take on Fingallians at home at 2:00pm.  Best of luck to both teams.

And finally..

The 2002 boys may remember a lad transferring in sometime around U16. A pacy mid-fielder who sported white boots, who had a good run with the minor Bs a couple of years back.  I guess 19 or 20 somethings probably don't buy a "newspaper" so last weekend's Life Magazine from the Indo may have passed them by, but lo and behold look who's showed up.

We wish Harry O'Connell all the best as he embarks on his new career.  And remember Harry, Junior football training is Mondays and Thursdays; feel free to make your big comeback anytime!
