Our Minor teams have been plugging away at their respective championship, so I thought I'd give you an update on how they've fared.
Hurling
This year sees us fielding two hurling teams:
Minor A: Our A team are contesting the Minor A championship. Right now, they are topping the group, with two wins from two, overcoming both Thomas Davis and Cuala. They play the final game in their group stages away to Lucan this weekend.
Minor B: Our B team are contesting the Minor C championship (Huh? Yeah, we call the teams, A, B... But they get drawn into a championship based usually on league standings). Their first game was a walkover due to an admin error (Brigids were entered incorrectly into two Championships!), while their second game saw a hotly contested encounter against Lucan which they won. So, they're two from two, too (still with me?). They contest their last group game this weekend, at home against Na Fianna. For my money, this is the game to watch this weekend.
Football
We're fielding 3 Minor Football teams this year. This began last year and was the first time in many years we could boast such high numbers. 3 teams at one level is a big undertaking and we thank our Minor football mentors who are doing a great job.
Minor A: The minor A team have completed their group stage and had 2 losses and 1 win. This was not enough to have them progress, so that's the end of their football championship I'm afraid. A shield competition beckons.
Minor B: The minor B team are contesting the C championship and have fared well. 3 games from 3 means they top the table and are through to the quarter finals.
Minor C: The C team contested the E championship and played 3 tough encounters, losing 2 and drawing their third. This means they finished 3rd in the group and are out of the championship. Hard luck lads. A sheild competition is their next step too.
