| Last weekend saw hardly any games due to the easter break. Probably not a bad thing, given the rain and the state of the pitches. I'm sure plenty of players and mentors are frustrated at ongoing pitch closures, but it can't be helped. We thank Clodagh, Michelle and Ciaran who between them diligently check the pitch status, and try their best to fit various teams into skill zones, pnu2, and anywhere else not affected by rain. I bet they're great at Tetris. We have a full list of games this weekend, so a full calendar. Plenty to go and watch. Keep an eye on social media this weekend, as pitch problems could continue. |

| APM Classes in the Club Gym |
| Athletic Profile Monitoring are currently running scheduled classes in the club gym. All of their classes are open to all and are pay-as-you-go. they charge between €10 and €15 (depending on the class). The sessions are group training sessions, or sessions for beginners. If you think you'd be interested, download the Wunderbook app, search for “Athletic Profile Monitoring” and make a booking. This week's schedule is below. |
| | Inter-County Representation |
| Plenty of Inter-county representation ongoing. Well done to everyone who has made it onto a squad. Here are the ones I was aware of this week: Dublin Minor Football Hot off the press, Dublin beat Meath 2-9 to 1-11 in the Leinster Minor championship this evening. Well done to Sean Keogh, Harry Curley and Leo Sweeney who were on the squad there. Special mention also to Ciaran O'Connor, who is also in this squad, but just coming back from injury. Ladies Minor Football Our representation all falls on the shoulders of Eimear Adamson, being our sole representative here. Hard luck to Eimear and the team who suffered a narrow defeat to Meath (2-6 to 2-5) also this evening. U16 Camogie Monday saw Caitlyn McKenna and Maebh Cotter line out for Dublin v Kildare. Unfortunately, this was a big defeat for the Dubs. Minor Hurlers Well done to Rónán O'Neill, Ryan Murphy and Harry Curley who were named in the squad in the Leinster Minor Hurling championship game against Kerry on Good Friday. A convincing win with a scoreline of 2-23 to 0-11 U16 Ladies Football The U16 Dublin Ladies football continues to be captained by Hannah Murphy. They had a big win over Wexford on Sunday last. U20 Hurling The Dublin U20 hurlers travelled to St Brendan's Park in Birr to take on Galway in the opening round of the U20 Hurling Championship. Well done to Brian Moorhouse-Carroll, Conor Dolan and Callum Walsh who were named on the squad. This was an epic battle by all accounts, with Dublin down by 6 at half-time, but did enough in the second half to secure a 2 point victory (1-19 to 1-17) U15 Camogie Finally, on Good Friday, Ciara Rowden and Clodagh Glennon took part in Dublin's win over Westmeath. And they were kind enough to allow their photo be taken. |
| | Ladies Féile Preparation well underway: Football is this weekend! |
| The U15 girls must be made up with the amount of support they are getting for their upcoming Féile. The Football Féile begins this weekend, but last weekend they were focusing on Camogie, and had a visit from the Senior 1 management team, along with AIB Club team of the year player, Aisling Maher. Farrell hurls were also on hand to ensure everyone was kitted out for their féile |
| | But there's more. As their preparation for this weekend continued, they played a challenge game against Whitehall, and were visited by the current Minor and Adult ladies' teams who were on hand to offer advice. |
| | We wish our U15 all the best as they play their Football Féile this weekend. Féile is a watershed moment in the GAA calendar. It marks the time when children are becoming young adults and is always a memorable time for all players. So, how about you make it more special for them? The single biggest thing that you can do is offer your support. Here's the Féile calendar for this weekend - Group Match 1 is on St Aidans CBS Pitch against Whitehall Colmcille. Throw in at 10:00 am.
- Group Match 2 is on Collins Ave Pitch v Ballyboden St Enda. Scheduled for 11:00 am
- Group Match 3 is back to St Aidans CBS v O'Dwyers at 12:00 pm.
There are further games for successful teams; These throw-in at 3:30 pm Group Winners will play in St Aidans CBS Group Runners up will play in St Anne's (Raheny Pitch) Should our girls progress, keep an eye on social media for updates. |
| Let's not forget the Boys Féile |
| The U15 lads are also in Féile action this weekend. I have to say; this new format for boys Féile, which if you squint at it, looks just like any other championship competition, makes it harder to follow. Case in point: After checking the U15 B result a couple of weeks back, I reported that the “U15 B lads won their football” game the previous week. Reader, I did them a disservice. Not being keen-eyed enough to have followed their progress over many weekends, alternating between hurling and football, I missed an opportunity to give them their dues. To the U15 B team, I apologise! Here's what I should have said: Well done to the U15 B team who have come through their Féile group stages, unbeaten; They went on to tough out a win against stiff competition in the semi-final, and have booked themselves a place in their Féile Football Final! Well done boys. A great run for sure. The U15s are in Hurling action this weekend: The A team play away to Kilmacud on Sunday morning at 11:30 in Silver Park in their Féile semi-final. The B Team are still playing group stages of Féile: They travel to Shanganagh Cliffs to take on Southern Gaels GPM & Shankill, also at 11:30 on Sunday morning. |
| | We've about 40 games on our fixtures page starting from tomorrow up to Sunday. Make sure you pick a game our two to get out to. With so many games, I'll leave it to the reader to find their pick. I will mention our Senior games though Our hurlers travel a short distance to Kilbarrack on Saturday evening, where they meet Naomh Barróg; That throws in at 6:15pm. |
| | The Senior Camógs, hot on their Round 4 win over Castleknock will head over to Naomh Jude next Tuesday to take on the team that have been our closest competition in Dublin in recent seasons. This should be a cracker. Throw in is at 7:00 pm. |

| | We can't let the week go by without mentioning New York's historic first win in the Connaught Championship ever; they beat Leitrim in the Bronx last weekend. The game went to extra time, ended in a draw and was decided by penalties. Congratulations to New York on their 2-nil win (!) last weekend. A particular source of delight for members of St Vincents was the 77th minute equaliser which brought the game to extra time. Slotted over by none other than former Vincents Senior footballer Shane Carthy. |
