Well well. Happy new year to you all. Is it 2024 already? It sure is. This week's notes should be pretty brief. We mainly have to think about the business of the club - but we've one social bone to throw you. |

Mega Raffle, and Music Bingo - Thanks All! | We had a great turnout at the 1884 for the club Mega Raffle on the 29th. Thanks to everyone who came out. Thanks also to everyone who supported the event. Special thanks to the 1884 who were smashing hosts, and gave us help in the form of lounge staff who dutifully helped sell even more tickets on the night. All of the winners have been announced via social media. I know the organising team took a break immediately after, so if you are awaiting you prize, don't worry: It's on the way. And while the mega raffle was going on, a whole separate crowd took over the club bar for a night of "Music Bingo", which raised funds to go towards the gym upkeep. I was down in the 1884, but the reports were reaching us. Sounds like it was a resounding success, and great craic to boot. One texter told us that it was like "the night of a county final win" in the club. Well done to the organisers Mark L'Estrange, Daire Parker, Joe Cherry and Luke Herron; perhaps the social reins of the club should be handed over to them! Thanks also to those who came and made it such a memorable night. |

It's regrading time of year | Players please note: There's a short window open at the moment during which regrading can occur. Here's what you need to know: For Adult men, football or hurling. Regrades are open now and will not be accepted after January 31. If you would like to consider a regrade, please drop an e-mail to the club secretary, Anne Harrington at secretary.stvincents.dublin@gaa.ie; Anne can begin the process, and you will then receive email instructions on how to complete it. For Camogie: The window for regrading begins on January 15th, and ends on January 28th. Players who wish to regrade are asked to get in touch directly with the Adult Camogie Director, Clodagh Carroll (clodagh.carroll@stvincentsgaa.ie). For Adult Ladies footballers: Regrading is open now, and will not be accepted after January 31st. Those who wish to regrade should get in touch directly with the Ladies Football Director, Niamh Adamson (niamh.adamson@stvincentsgaa.ie) Remember folks: Everyone is volunteering so please don't leave the request until the last minute, a heavy workload on any of the above individuals could result in deadlines being missed.
Mentors: You have a part to play here too. If you have players who are unlikely to make your squad, and would benefit from playing at a lower level; you might want to encourage them to request a regrade. Remember; a player who regrades down is not prevented from playing at a higher level, but the opposite is not true. A player graded at a higher level cannot play at a lower grade. Plan to use the player or encourage a regrade! | Better Late then Never: Junior B Hurlers to be honoured | Some of you may remember back to 2019, before the pandemic struck. Our Junior Hurlers won the Junior B Dublin Hurling championship, and then continued on to an All-Ireland Junior B Hurling competition, hosted by Kileedy in Limerick. Good times indeed. Well, with all the fuss of the extended competition, which then led into a year long pandemic, the team were never presented with their Dublin winning medals. The good news is that this wrong is about to be righted, and Friday night, the 19th January there will be a get together of the team to be presented with their medals. Families, supporters and more are welcome to join. It will be on in the bar from 8pm, and there will be live music by Pat Adams in the bar that evening too. We hope to see you all there. | | Recovening of the 2023 AGM | A separate notice went around about this earlier in the week. If you missed it, read about it here. |

Looks like the promise of a drink, and a start time a bit later in the day led to the desired effect. This year's married vs singles on St Stephen's day was the best attended in recent years. I managed to watch a bit of this, and there was great skill on show. Also, our club photographer, Gráinne McKinney was on hand and took a few shots too. You can view the album over on Facebook. |

| Kudos to Mark Nolan who is always the main driver behind getting this event going, and to Quirkey for taking on the refereeing duties. |
