We're nearing the end of championship season. Feels like only a week or two since it started, but trust me it's been longer. Minors, U15 ladies and more still flying the blue and white so let's get on with it.

Mentors: Keep sending me scores
|

While goverment restrictions continue on games attendance, we'll continue to put out any and all scores out on social media. Even if the game is a challenge match, remember that parents/guardians may be eager to know whats going on, and there's no harm in players getting their time in the sun! So, whatsapp me those scores, and I'll put them up.

Covid Guidelines Reminder

We continue to have very good compliance with regard to health questionnaires, but I can't help thinking there's a danger of getting too comfortable with the new normal. Mentors and supervisors: We rely on your diligence to maintain our standards in relation of Covid-19 measures. Please bear in mind that the mantra is "Get In. Train. Get Out". Training sessions should end at 10 minutes to the hour, unless of course there isn't a training session after yours. The goal is to minimise people congregating and mixing during the crossover.

I've been a bit remiss in publishing recent lottos. I'll put this down to an admin error on my behalf. Here's the last few draws:

Tesco "Hurl with Me" initiative gets parents involved

Well done to Emily Walsh, who plays on our Junior Camogie team. She's been running the "Hurl With Me" initiative with parents of the U8 Squad. Emily under took the Camogie Association's Motivate, Nurture, Aspire (MNA, get it?) coaching programme. This programme aims to get more women involved in Camogie coaching. The "Hurl with Me" initiative involves teaching parents.
"I'm teaching a group of parents the basic skills of Camogie which is enabling them to gain a better understanding of the sport and really engage with their child/children and the squad. With two weeks left to go, we hope that we will have a continuing growth in parent/guardian participation and we hope to see improvements in the skills I'm teaching each week." Emily told us.

I announced the "Ryder Cup" style golf outing a couple of weeks back. Last weekend I noticed I was fielding a number of "tell me more" questions. So, I've put everything in an easy to read "Questions and Answers" page on the club website.

Tough defeat for Camogie Seniors
|
|
|
|
|
|
| |
Commiserations to our senior camogie team who were beaten in the Dublin Senior Camogie final last Sunday. The game was nip-and-tuck for most of the time, but Judes pulled away in the final quarter. We can only imagine that defeat is more difficult when your family aren't there to comfort you ,and you're not allowed to get together as a group to share the pain. Hard luck girls. A massive turn out on the stream was no replacement for the vocal juvenile Camógs who follow your every play, but we hope you know your club was behind you at every step.

U16 Hurling final: Quite the write up!

|

Our U16 boys hurling team played out a good win against St Oliver Plunketts last weekend in the quarter final of the U16 B Hurling championship. Niall Scully of the evening herald wrote up a match report which spanned 2 pages, but I'll leave you with some snippets of quotes:
"Eoin Ferguson excelled at right half back"
"He did well in the air, climbing high above the timber, Time and again"
"Conor Dolan had a stormer in the home midfield"
"In the opening seconds, their impressive full-forward Callum Walsh rose into the air to grab the ball"
"Eoin Abernathy also soared to the sky and landed with the sliotar"
My favourite of the piece was a couple of pieces of sports journalism poetry:
"Left corner forward, Ken Ryan has the feet of a dancer. And the softest of wrists. He scored a tidy pocket of points"
Of Aaron Cosgrave he said "..yet he managed to get the sliotar away with a sweet one-handed strike the would have brought a smile to the stick of John Hetherton"
Wonderful stuff, lads. I'm sure the scrap books are filling up as we speak

So, who's still fighting in their championships? Here's what we have this weekend.
- The U14 A and B Squads. They contest round 2 of their Football Féile's this weekend.
- The U14 Ladies Football team. The also contest Football Féile. Thy're away to Castleknock on Friday.
- The U15 Ladies Football team. They play Kilmacud Crokes on PNU2 tomorrow in the Divison 1 championship.
- The U16 A boys who contest their championship football Quarter Final against Lucan Sarsfields
- The U16 Camogie girls. They contest their championship Semi Final against Raheny
- The Minor A Hurlers. They're in the Minor A Hurling Championship Semi Final against Kilmacud Crokes. That's in O'Toole Park on Sunday morning.
- The Minor B Hurlers. They're in the Minor C Hurling Championship Semi Final against Castleknock on Sunday morning out in Somerton.
- The Junior footballers who are in the Junior 2 Football Championship Semi Final v Naomh Olaf on PNU1 on Sunday morning.
